The African American Heritage Trail is a project of the Mobile Historic Development Commission. It celebrates the area’s culturally diverse heritage and looks back to the historic contributions and event locations that are related to the African American community.

The African American Heritage Trail features 32 marker locations. These sites stand as proof to the contributions of individuals of the African American descent to the development of the area and their personal lives as well, most transitioning from being slaves to successful figures in the society.

The African American Heritage Trail is also an excellent way to learn more about local history and tradition. It is also an excellent way to see and explore this old city, may it be through the walking tours or the driving tours.
