The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Museum is a state sponsored museum located in Birmingham, Alabama. It is focused on celebrating the state?s athletic history through education and interpretive displays that have something to do with the athletes that were Alabama natives or those who managed to give a great image to the state. It was established in August 1967 through a state legislative act.

The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame features more than 5000 sports world artifacts under its roof. Some of which are related to big names like Jesse Owens, Carl Lewis, Willie Mays, Joe Louis, and Hank Aaron. The site also welcomes new nominations and additions, granted that they fit the requirements, which include being retired from their sport for more than a year or being older than 40, if they are still in their sport, among many others.
