The American Village is an interesting site in Montevallo, Alabama. It is basically a recreated Colonial Village, where visitors can find historical interpreters in traditional 1800s garb. Some of the characters on the site even take the personalities of certain famous figures like Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Betsy Ross, and others.

Composed of 113 acres worth of land area, the American Village serves as a civic education center. They educate young and old folks through tours around the site that has versions of the Washington Hall (which is patterned after Mount Vernon), a Colonial Courthouse, a Colonial Chapel, small trades buildings, and a Patriot Gift Shop just to name a few. There?s also the Pettus Randall Miniature Museum of American History where visitors can find 72 handcrafted mini versions of American presidents and first ladies, as well as dioramas of historic events.
