Also known as the Bragg-Mitchell House is the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion in Mobile, Alabama. This site is a historic house built in 1855 by the North Carolina native, Judge John Bragg. Judge Bragg was the former appointed judge to the 10th Judicial Circuit of Alabama. He also served the 32nd United States Congress.
The property survived the Civil War since Mobile didn?t become a battleground. Sadly, the original furnishings of the house were burned down during the war, since all of it was moved to Judge Bragg?s plantation in Lowndes County.
The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion is currently operated as a historic house museum. It is also one of the most photographed buildings in Mobile, as well as one of the best known tourist attractions in the area.
