Also known as the Katherine Cooper Cater Hall, the Old President?s Mansion, and the Social Center, the Cater Hall is actually a historic building in the campus of Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. It was built in 1915, initially to serve as the home of what was then called the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. It was designed by Joseph Hudnut in the Classical Revival style and was built for a total amount of $17,000.
The Cater Hall served various purposes through the years. Initially, it was the school president?s home, and then it was transformed into a social center when a new mansion was built in 1938. It also housed administrative offices for a while. Currently, it serves as the center for the educational support services divisions of the Auburn University.
