The Convent of Mercy is a historic religious complex in Mobile, Alabama. It is more commonly known today as the St. Francis Place Condominiums.
The Convent of Mercy was founded in the late 1800s by the Sisters of Mercy, under the St. Joseph?s Parish. They established the St. Joseph?s School, which used five frame buildings on the property today. The school operated until 1968 and in 1969, the convent was moved to another facility, also in Mobile. After the move, the buildings were used by the Empress Chandelier Company. In 2002, it was restored and renovated. It currently operates as the St. Francis Place Condominiums.
The Convent of Mercy is one of the only two historic convent complexes in Mobile that still exists today. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
