The Decatur City Cemetery is a historic cemetery in Decatur, Alabama. It shares a very interesting history, tracing back its roots to the Banks Family Cemetery.

The Decatur City Cemetery was a result of the Banks Family Cemetery running out of space in 1853. Calvin Brown found the location and ran the cemetery from around this time up until 1910. Currently, it covers 41 acres and is home to 35,000 graves. It was run by private citizens and families for a long time, until the Brown and Wyker families started to lose the capabilities of maintaining the site. The city then started to manage and operate it.

Today, the Decatur City Cemetery is under the care and management of the city?s Parks & Recreation Department.
