Most popularly known as the Donnelly House and Gardens, the Donnelly House is a historic house in Birmingham, Alabama. It was built in 1905 and initially served as the home of James W. Donnelly, a civic leader, real-estate developer, manufacturer, industrialist, and philanthropist. This became his home after he retired from working for Procter & Gamble.
The Donnelly House is a magnificent Georgian-colonial mansion. It boasts of glorious white marble floors and over 12,000 square feet of living space. After functioning as a private residence, it also became the home of the Birmingham Civic Ballet in the 1950s. Afterwards, it became known as a private events venue, booked primarily for weddings and other parties of the sort.
The Donnelly House and Gardens is also a part of the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage as well as the National Register of Historic Places.
