The Fort Harker is a historic site in Stevenson, Alabama. It was built in 1862 as an army fortification by the Union Army during the Civil War. The construction was done in mixed efforts of the soldiers with the help of the freed slaves of the Army of the Cumberland. It was strategically placed to secure some railroad lines, so Union troops will have no problems in moving around and acquiring supply.

Fort Harker was initially commanded by Union General William Rosecrans who took office on the site in July 1863. Here, the general directed a successful campaign against the Confederate General Braxton Bragg.

Fort Harker was abandoned after the Civil War. It was used by locals for farming for a while, but by 1976, historical preservation efforts took place. By 1985, it was already transformed into a city park.
