The Frank Jackson State Park is a state park and recreation area in Opp, Alabama. It covers 2050 acres of area, centered on the Lake Frank Jackson.
Originally known as the Lightwood Knot Creek State Park, the Frank Jackson State Park, as well as Lake Frank Jackson, is named after and in honor of the long time state representative Frank Jackson who was also from Covington County. The lake covers 1000 acres and is a popular spot for fishing. It is stocked with a wide array of freshwater fish and also hosts annual bass fishing tournament.
Aside from fishing, visitors of the Frank Jackson State Park can also enjoy boating, picnicking, hiking, bird watching, and wildlife viewing. The site also has an educational kiosk where folks can learn more about the birds and other wildlife found in the park.
