The Franklin County Watermelon Festival is an annual event in downtown Russellville, Alabama during the summer. It is basically the largest event in the city, bringing in more than 30,000 visitors to Russellville yearly.

The main focus of the Franklin County Watermelon Festival is the watermelon, of course. Watermelons are commonly grown in the region, which started a tradition where a contest of the largest grown watermelon wins. It has been going on for more than 30 years now, and it has grown from being a small watermelon contest to a massive summer celebration.

The Franklin County Watermelon Festival also has other events like an antique car shows, beauty pageants, outdoor concerts, arts and crafts booths, parlor games for kids, 5k race, tennis tournaments, and food.
