The Guntersville Museum and Cultural Center contains exhibits of native American tools, poetry and ceremonial pieces. The museum was built in 1936 prior to the World War II. Guntersville Museum became a city landmark and was later converted into a cornerstone offering periodic special exhibits, photos and replicas of the distinct life aspect of a river were found in the museum.

The Guntersville Museum and Cultural Center focuses on Guntersvill?s history, art, and culture with featured exhibits, namely the TVA and the making of the lake, Steamboats/Gunboats and race boats, artifacts and paintings, and attributes to the city?s earliest families. These galleries also speak about how the people worked hard to protect the art and culture in this place.

Other highlights of the museum and cultural center is preservation of the rich history about native American artifacts and even offers the visitors to get to know some of the local personalities. Every month, the museum displays special exhibits. Permanent collections includes Indian artifacts, extensive gem collection, native birds, Guntersville lake exhibit, various local art and artifacts. On the other hand, The TVA exhibit, which displays construction of the Guthersville dam, is one of the most popular among the exhibits inside the museum.

The Guntersville Museum and Cultural Center is open every Tuesdays to Sundays on different time schedule. The museum is closed during Mondays for general upkeep and cleaning. Admission to the museum is free. The locals are encouraged to become volunteers of the museum and take part in the preservation of the artifacts, photos and historical documents. Special visits and guided tours are highly welcomed as well.
