The Half Chance Iron Bridge is a historic span in Marengo County, Alabama. It is located in the small community known as Half Chance, which is also why it is also commonly known as the Half Chance Bridge. It crosses the Chickasaw Bogue Creek.
The Half Chance Iron Bridge is a single span wrought iron bridge built in 1880. It was designed and built by the King Iron Bridge Manufacturing Company of Cleveland, Ohio. The company was founded in 1871 and has been manufacturing stuff for construction of bridges by 1878. By the 1880s, it was already the largest highway bridge works in the country.
The Half Chance Iron Bridge is the oldest iron bridge in the state of Alabama that is of existence today.
