The Huntsville Museum of Art is the city?s leading visual arts center, containing about 3000 items in its collection. It is a real visual treat for any art student, art connoisseur, art historian or even casual art enthusiasts.
The collections are divided into two: First American and regional art, and arts from other parts of the globe such as Asia, Africa and Europe. The museum is supported by various private donations and foundations.
Among the museum?s stellar cast of paintings in display include the works of James McNeill Whistler, who is famous for the iconic painting ?Whistler?s Mother?. Other notable artists in the collection are John French Sloan, Joseph Stella, and Robert Rauschenberg. The infamous proponent of Pop Art, Andy Warhol, also has works displayed in the museum, such as Moonwalk, a tribute to NASA.
