The Laird Cottage is a historic home in Demopolis, Alabama. It is best known for serving as the headquarters of the Marengo County Historical Society and the Geneva Mercer Museum.

The Laird Cottage was built in 1870 in the Greek Revival and Italianate styles as a residence. It was transformed into a biographical museum by the Marengo County Historical Society for the Marengo County native, Geneva Mercer.

Mercer is an Alabama Women?s Hall of Famer, honored for being one of the state?s most notable artists. She was one of the few from the state to achieve national and worldwide acclaim for her talent, making her the first Alabama artist whose works were all documented by the prestigious Smithsonian Institution. The Geneva Mercer Museum tells of her life and features her work.
