The Maxwell Air Force Base is a historic site in Montgomery, Alabama. It is also known officially as the Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, an Air Education and Training Command unit under the United States Air Force.

Aside from being a military installation, the Maxwell Air Force Base is also notable for being the world?s earliest flying schools under the Wright Brothers. This site once served as a venue of the Wright Flying School, established in 1910. Here, Orville Wright taught students about the principles of flying, and every element involved in it. The school closed in 1910, and the government took up the site during the World War I.

The Maxwell Air Force Base is listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage.
