The Oak Hill Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in the city of Birmingham, Alabama. It was originally known as the ?City Cemetery?, and was established around the late 1860s to early 1870s.

The Oak Hill Cemetery holds a lot of history under its grounds, since it is the very first burial ground in the area. Most of its interments were done before the year 1930, and a lot of locally notable figures were laid to rest here. Nine of ten landholders and city founders were buried here, as well as several early mayors, Civil War veterans, and an American Revolutionary War soldier. The first male child that was born in the city was also buried here.

The Oak Hill Cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places and Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage for its significant role in the development of the community.
