The Oak Mountain State Park is the largest state park in all of Alabama. It was established in 1927, through the State Land Act of 1927 that gave the park 940 acres of land, which was later expanded with an additional 8000 acres.

Like many other state parks in the country, the Oak Mountains State Park was also handled and aided by the Civilian Conservation Corps at one time during the Great Depression. Tons of old structures can be found in the park that were made by the group, often times providing excellent vistas.

Inside the Oak Mountain State Park, you can enjoy a series of activities, like fishing, beach, golfing, and mountain biking. It is also home to several annual events that people can attend and take part of.
