Point Mallard Park is a public park and a well known attraction in Decatur, Alabama. It is open year round, although, its peak season takes place between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

The main attraction at the Point Mallard Park is the Point Mallard Aquatic Center, also known as the J. Gilmer Blackburn Aquatic Center. It was built around the early 1970s when the then mayor, Gilmer Blackburn, encountered “wave making” swimming pools in Germany. The one located at the site is known as America’s First Wave Pool.

Aside from the Aquatic Center, there are tons of other attractions inside the site’s 500 acres. There’s also a golf course, campgrounds, tennis courts, soccer field, and an ice complex among other things.
