It may seem weird for some why a seemingly simple steel structure could be a site that?s worth visiting. It may not be special if it?s just another steel structure, but the Redstone Test Stand is an entirely different matter. It is actually a National Historic Landmark, noted for being the oldest static firing facility in the Marshall Space Flight Center. It is also significant for playing a role in the development of the Mercury/Redstone and Jupiter C vehicles that launched the very first US satellite as well as the first US manned spaceflight.

Aside from being a National Historic Landmark, the Redstone Test Stand was also declared as an Alabama Historic Civil Engineering Landmark in 1979. It is found in Huntsville Alabama, at the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center.
