The Rickwood Field is a historic baseball park in Birmingham, Alabama. It is best known for being the oldest surviving professional field of the sort in the United States.
Built in 1910 as the home field of the Birmingham Barons by the team owner Rick Woodward, the Rickwood Field is truly the oldest pro baseball park in the country today. It also served as the home of the Birmingham Black Barons, alongside with tons of other teams that used it as training grounds over the past years. It also hosted quite a number of other games for various sports leagues.
When the Birmingham Barons moved to their new facility in the suburbs, the Rickwood Field fell under the care of the Friends of Rickwood. It is currently being renovated and restored to its former glory.
