Located in Faunsdale, Alabama is the historic plantation complex site known as the Roseland Plantation. It was established in the 1820s by Samuel Alston Fitts. Fitts was a North Carolina native.

The Roseland Plantation was a 1200-acre site. When Fitts was murdered in 1832, the property, as well as the rest of the Fitts family, was taken care of the eldest son, Samuel Fitts. He was 18 when he took charge of the family estate, but by the 1860s, the plantation was already considered as a success.

Sadly, not a lot of the original structures of the Roseland Plantation survived to this day. Most of what was preserved was given to the Sturdivant Museum. The property is still a part of the National Register of Historic Places mostly because of archaeological reasons.
