The Tannehill Ironworks Historic State Park encompasses over 1,500 acres of land that sprawls across three different counties. In fact, the state park is so vast that it even has its own miniature railroad system that runs through its pine forest. Besides hiking, camping, and other usual outdoor sports offered by state parks, this place is also home to numerous crafts and trades shows and exhibits held annually as well as shopping bazaars and festivals celebrating the usual holidays.

As a historical site, the park boasts of an ancient gristmill, cotton gin, and a farmhouse that shows how pioneers lived in the old days. There are also historic roadways to explore and all other historic artefacts may be viewed at the Iron & Steel Museum, which counts its huge stone furnaces as its most amazing display.
