The Temple Beth El is a historic synagogue in Anniston, Alabama. It is best known as the oldest building that is continuously used for Jewish worship in the state. Built in 1893, the Temple Beth El is a historic landmark in the area as well. Its history is rich witch community involvement that it also stands as a great history marker in Anniston.

The Temple Beth El was completed in joint efforts of the Anniston’s Reform Jewish congregation that was formed in 1888. With the great strides achieved by the Ladies Hebrew Benevolent Society, who raised the money and made all the arrangements in the construction, the building stands today as a testament of the dedication of the members for their faith. They named the structure as Beth El, which means House of God.
