The Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site is a historic area in Tuskegee, Alabama. Also known as Moton Field, the site is where the primary flight training for the Tuskegee Airmen, or the pioneering pilots, took place. Built in 1941, the site served as a new training base. It was named after Robert Russa Moton, a former Tuskegee Institute principal who passed away a year before the site’s completion.

Established in 1998, the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site commemorates the great contributions of the African American airmen that participated in the World War II. Folks can enjoy touring around the site. A number of events like the Annual Labor Day Fly-In and the Annual George Washington Carver Arts and Crafts Festival take place in the site as well.
