The University of Alabama Observatory is an observatory located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, inside the University of Alabama campus. It was completed in 1949, atop the Gallalee Hall, and immediately served as a replacement to the Old University of Alabama Observatory, which was used from 1849 o the 1890s, and is one of the seven structures in campus which dates back to before the American Civil War days.

The University of Alabama Observatory was initially equipped with a 10-inch refracting telescope. This served as the school?s primary telescope from the year 1950 until 2004, when it was replaced by a new 16-inch Ritchey-Chretien reflector from the DFM Engineering. It was installed in 2005, while the old one was sold off to an antique telescope collector.
