The W. C. Handy Home, Museum & Library is a biographical museum in Florence, Alabama. It is focused on the life of William Christopher Handy.

Handy was born in a small log cabin in Florence, Alabama in 1873. Here, he grew up to a family of ministers and listening to the laborers? singing in his grandfather?s farm. He met his mentor in his elementary school, YA Wallace, who helped him achieve his own musical style, which was a unique mixture of formal training and acquired techniques.

The W. C. Handy Home, Museum & Library gives visitors a chance to see and explore the life of Handy. The site displays his personal papers and memorabilia like handwritten sheet music, photographs, household furnishing, and most importantly, his famous flute and personal piano.
