Built in 1894, the Winston County Courthouse is a historic public building in Double Springs, Alabama. The tale of its roots is always a great story to tell, being a labor of love among locals.

The current Winston County Courthouse is actually a replacement to an older structure built in Old Houston. Dozens of locals volunteered in constructing the building after a commission asked men to participate in the project, and a good number responded to the call. Most of which were descendants of Revolutionary Soldiers from all over the county.

The current Winston County Courthouse was built when the county center was moved. A number of additions were done to the building throughout the years, but it still managed to keep its integrity and become a part of the National Register of Historic Places.
