The Alaska State Fair is a yearly event in Palmer, Alaska during the arrival of fall or just before the summer ends. This is usually held on the last week of August until the first week of September. The State Fair of Alaska features record-breaking gigantic vegetables, flower gardens, carnivals, arts and crafts, food, live entertainment and other fun activities for the family.

The Alaska State Fair is an original family-oriented event that was first held in September 4 to 7, 1936. It was put together by the farmer families who made the Matanuska-Susitna Valley their home in 1935 when the government opened Alaska as the main food provider for the military and as a post-war refuge. It was only in 1967 when the Alaska State Fair was first held in its present day 300-acre fairgrounds at Glenn Highway.
