Established in 1915 by President Woodrow Wilson on a 22 acre land is the Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery. It is where most of the notable figures in Alaska were laid to rest, as well as where the city honors the local history. It was constructed as a tribute to the people who helped make Alaska known to the rest of the world.
The Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery is also home to the Columbarium Wall that was dedicated in the Memorial Day of 2003. It is comprised of 3861 niches that could hold up to nine thousand urns. It was made so people could have a more affordable burial alternative. It is also located in a beautiful location, so the site could be more appreciated.
