Located in Nome, Alaska is the Cape Nome Mining District Discovery Sites. It is a historic area in the city of Nome, Alaska, significant for its part during the Alaska gold rush. The area started to become a mining located in 1898, when the Anvil, Mountain, and Snow Creeks showed sign of being prosperous sources of gold.

Like many mining booms, the Cape Nome Mining District Discovery Sites is also noted for being in connection with the populating of the area. Since the mining opportunities also started to give chances for folks to earn, it attracted a good amount of people, which also started a settlement area.

The Cape Nome Mining District Discovery Sites was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, and was declared a National Historic Landmark the same day.
