The Chief Shakes Island and Tribal House is a historic area in Wrangell, Alaska, proven by the site becoming a part of the National Register of Historic Places and being declared as a national monument. The area celebrates the Tribal House, which is a replica of an original Shakes Tribal House.
The Tribal House is of great significance in the history of the Tlingit peoples. It is noted for being a house of high caste among the natives, conveying excellent architecture and traditional art. It is decorated with carvings and sculptures and is filled with Shakes Clan houseposts. This replica was built in 1939 by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
