Located in Palmer, Alaska, the Colony House Museum is an interesting attraction in town. The museum features the historic Colony House, once owned by Irene and Oscar Beylund, which is significant for being a Colony Farm House and a part of the Colony project that the Roosevelt administration took on in the 1930s.

The Colony House Museum traces its history back to the Deal resettlement project and what it is about. Since tons of people don’t know about it, the Colony House Museum could be a great help in illuminating the public about the subject. The house was restored by a group known as the Colony House Preservation Committee and then passed on to the Palmer Historical Society who currently operates it.

Most of the information you’ll learn will be from the descendants of the original colonists. They staff the house and function as tour guides.
