The Denali State Park was built on 1970 and was later on expanded in 1976. The name Denali is derived from the Kasugi dialect of the Indians, meaning ?The High One. The park offers recreational facilities adjacent to pure wilderness.

The Denali State Park boasts of a panoramic view Alaska Range. The State Park serves as a residence for a variety of animals some of which include moose, lynx, caribou, coyote, ermine grizzly and black bears and some elusive wolves. It serves as a nesting place to more than 130 species of birds. Bird species like raven, willow, chickadee, arctic tern, shore bird, swan, and osprey are but some of them.

The fishes abound in this park, too - rainbow trout, arctic grayling, salmon and whitefish, to name a few. Plant life teems in Denali State Park. Rare blooms of moss campion and mountain havens greet the visitors of this community. Camping ground is available in this park and so are trailheads. Hikers are advised to carry two sets of items, one set for warm climate and a rain gear.
