The Georgeson Botanical Garden is a beautiful spot in the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus. It is used commonly for research and demonstration, although, it is also open to the public during daylight hours.
Created as a part of the Alaska Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, the Georgeson Botanical Garden is a great stop for people interested in plants and horticulture. It also seems to attract visitors from other places as well, since the state is not really known for its flora, so attractions like these make some quite curious.
Named after Charles Christian Georgeson, a former USDA Special Agent who became in charge of Alaska Investigations in 1900, access to the Georgeson Botanical Garden is free and it is open to the public from May through September.
