The oldest standing Russian Orthodox Church in Alaska is the Holy Assumption of the Virgin Mary Church. It currently stands in Kenai in the borough of Kenai Peninsula in Alaska.

In 1840, Alaska became a diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. The movement spread throughout the whole Kenai Peninsula, converting even the native people, the Kenaitze. The first chapel was built in 1840 near the village of Kenai inside Fort St. Nicholas. The official church was constructed from 1895 to 1896 out of local logs and other materials. The style use was Pskov style, which gave the church its ?ship? shape.

The church, including its cemetery, chapel, rectory and area around them, were collectively designated as National Historical Landmark on April 15, 1970. The church is currently part of the Orthodox Church in American Diocese of Alaska.
