For a more secluded and genuine wild outdoors feel of a state park, head out to the Kachemak Bay State Park in Kenai Peninsula, Alaska.

With no road or trail access, visitors who plan to go here must book a flight or boat trip from Homer, the nearest town. Kachemak Bay State Park was the first State Park in Alaska to be officially declared by the legislature. Likewise, the nearby Kachemak Bay State Wilderness Park is the first wilderness to be declared as such. Kachemak is classified as a Critical Habitat Area due to the biodiversity in the area.

Popular wildlife residents of the park are sea lions, sea otters, whales, and Alaskan black bears. A true wild land, visitors are often advised to brace for the rough and unpredictable weather such as snowstorm or strong gusts. Because of this, park rangers often accompany group visits.
