The Klondike Gold Rush is a very significant historic event in the state of Alaska. It helped the economy grow during the turn of the century and also improved the population in the area as well. This is why commemorating the event and its location has been done by establishing the Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park on 1976.

The site traces its history back to the late 1890s, when the Klondike gold rush started. It is composed of several units, one of which is within the state of Alaska, near the city of Skagway. The site in the state is composed of 15 restored historic buildings and some sections of the White Pass and Chilkoot Trails. The Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park is also an international park.
