Knik Glacier is the main attraction and the very reason why Lake George in Anchorage, Alaska was listed to be a National Natural Landmark. Aside from being one of the largest glaciers in mid-south Alaska, a geological event that happens every year, wherein the glacier wall breaks and floods the surrounding area with ice debris and water, makes Knik Glacier a phenomenal attraction. In the local term of the Icelandic people, it is known as the ”jokulhlaup". The ”jokulhlaup" stopped occurring in 1967 and was linked to the immense earthquake that happened in Good Friday of 1964.

As of today, it can be viewed with the help of various companies that facilitate glacier tours. Tourists have several choices on how they want to view the famous glacier – whether by air, by land or by water, there are service providers who can make a Knik Glacier tour a memorable one.
