The sea is both a blessing and a burden for many coastal towns. It is the source of their income, but it can also pose a great danger for the people at the same time. This is why almost every town by the sea has a way to remember the people they’ve lost to the sea. The Lost Seafarer’s Memorial is the city of Homer, Alaska’s way to commemorate their loss.

The Lost Seafarer’s Memorial in Homer is composed of a small complex with a gazebo and benches overlooking the sea. It also has a monument erected in memory of those who were lost to the sea.

The most notable thing about the Lost Seafarer’s Memorial is its fitting location right in the Homer Spit near the Small Boar Harbor. The site is actually very quiet, making the whole place quite peaceful and solemn, fitting for the monument.
