The Mount Marathon event is held each year during the fourth of July when you will see the Seward population being filled with about 2,500 to 40,000 people. It is a yearly footrace that attracts runners from all over the world and it also serves as the favorite hometown activity of the Alaskans to the Seward ever since it started in 1915.
Its popular route takes about 1.5 miles up to the mountain?s face and it is complete with all the steep cliffs and the waterfalls with the breathtaking view of the overall landscape. All the festivities of the Independence Day include the display of fireworks, several street vendors of food and drinks, a street parade filled with music and dancing.
