The history of modern Alaska, the United States? last frontier, has always been a history of exploration. Alaska?s bountiful natural resources have attracted the government to employ technology in industry and transportation to harness these resources. These natural wealth transformed Alaska to what it is now. However, as a trade-off, the technologies were left to rot and rust in Alaska?s tundra and forests.

The Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry was established in 1967 to give these old machines and vehicles a home. Not only that, they will tell the public the history and legacy of the exploration age that led to Alaska?s growth and development. The Museum houses more than 200 artifacts such as trains, aircraft, mining and construction equipment, farm machineries, boats, and road vehicles. Visitors will also get in-depth knowledge from guided tours, interactive exhibits and video presentations.
