Pillar Mountain, a mountain summit found in Kodiak Island County in Alaska, stands 1,204 feet or 366.98 meters above sea level. The mountain has a summit very ideal for climbing. At Pillar Mountain, people can take great photos of Kodiak Island from the top. Pillar Mountain holds a historical part in the communications field. Before the fiber optic cable was used, the mountain had an antenna farm which was the provider of communication in outer space. Of course, this served as the communication bridge to foreign towns.

Pillar Mountain, located at Kodiak Island County, is one of the 93 mountains with summits and peaks. This county where it is located is situated in the southern coast of Alaska and it's the largest one in the Kodiak Archipelago. In history, the settlers would suffice daily living through fishing, farming, gathering, and hunting. The island was explored by Stephan Glotov in 1763 and as civilization was developed, the Pillar Mountain was also discovered. Today, many tourists prefer to hike to the misty summit and experience the mountain breeze while taking a top-view of the Kodiak Island.

The most interesting part of the mountain is the wind farm. The Pillar Mountain Wind Farm has three GE 1.5-MW turbines that provides renewable energy to the town with approximately 12,000 residents. Before this was developed, the island relied on expensive hydroelectric plants (80% supply) and seven diesel-powered generators (20% supply) to provide power to the town. Discovery Channel featured the mountain for its wind energy project. The story explained how it was a huge challenge for companies to provide power source to the remote town. It is remarkable for being the pioneering utility-scale wind energy project. Because of this, the cost of the town's electricity immensely decreased. The project started in 2008 and it got completed in the year 2009. Every year, it produces 12.2 million kWh for 12 cents/kWh.
