Being a part of the Sitka National Historic Park, the Sitka Cultural Center promotes the same thing as the park and national monument. It aims to foster and develop the local traditions and history, albeit through arts and crafts.

Best described as a haven for local Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimpsian crafts, the Sitka Cultural Center is actually an artist studio for studying and practicing the local traditional arts. The site provides a one-on-one experience for visitors, giving them a feel and deeper understanding of the traditional arts. Guests can watch the artists work; they can also ask questions while the experts weave, carve, and do some bead work.

The Sitka Cultural Center can be located in the Sitka National Historical Park?s visitor center.
