Located in Skagway, Alaska is the Skagway Museum, also known as the Skagway Museum & Archives. Te site features a collection of historic artifacts depicting the area?s gold rush era and other items that tell of the colourful past of the borough of Skagway.
Established in the mid 1900s, the Skagway Museum is housed in the historic McCabe College Building. The McCabe College is the first institution for higher education in Alaska, established in 1899. Aside from serving as a school, the structure was also used as a jail, court house, and a marshal?s office. It was restored before the celebration of Skagway?s centennial in 2000.
