The Talkeetna Historical Society Museum in the Little Red School House in Downtown Talkeetna showcases the uniqueness of the rural Alaskan community. The Museum preserves this uniqueness through the preservation of Talkeetna's past as depicted in the historical buildings and trails seen in the guided tours.

The Museum tours will enable visitors to view the many displayed artifacts that will help them learn more about the area’s history. This includes the native peoples, aviators, gold seekers, trappers, and other ordinary people who have made a name for themselves through significant and remarkable contributions and participation in the early days of Talkeena.

The Museum features old railroad buildings that showcase historic photos and exhibition pieces from the earlier times of Talkeena. One building holds the Mountain Exhibit showing a room-size model of Mount McKinley as well as its surrounding peaks of the Alaska Range. Visitors will also widen their knowledge on mountaineering. Aside from the displays, a friendly ranger walks around to share more about this activity, including the mountain climbers and the Mountain Exhibit room.
