Located at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains, the Catalina State Park is a state park and natural preserve which contains a healthy variety of natural vegetation and animal species.

The Catalina State Park covers about 5,500 acres of varying geography including streams, plains, canyons, and foothills. It also contains dozens of different natural populations and systems making wildlife watching a fruitful activity. There are over 150 different species of birds known to inhabit or pass through the area. There are also extensive trails for hikers, cyclists, and horseback riders to use in the park which lets the visitor explore the various location in the park including those that rise over 3000 feet above sea level. Park facilities for horses are available at the equestrian center.
