The Dead Horse Ranch State Park is a state park located in Cottonwood, Arizona. It covers over 423 acres of land and sits at about 3,300 feet above sea level.

According to the state park administration, the location received is named from an event during the original purchase of the ranch by the Ireys family in the 1940s. While searching for a good ranch to purchase, they came across a property with a dead horse lying by the access road, and when they were choosing which one to acquire, the children referred to the area as ?the one with the dead horse?.

Because of the mild temperatures in the area due to its elevation, the area has become a preferred location for camping, mountain biking, and hiking.
