Contrary to the low expectations and sometimes, confusion by some people, the Hall of Flame is not just ?some boring museum? and most of all, it?s not a restaurant. This museum contains the biggest collection of firefighting gear in the whole world which accounts to more than 90 completely restored fire apparatus used from 1725 to 1969. It also holds several fire history exhibits that cover almost a whole acre of the museum. The exhibits show most of the fire history in America but not limited to pieces from England, Austria, France, Japan and Germany.

The Hall of Flame firefighting museum operates under the sponsorship of the National Historical Fire Foundation which was put up by George F. Getz, Jr. in 1961. This museum in return, supports the National Firefighting Hall of Heroes by honoring firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty and those who have earned an award for heroism. They also dedicated one of their galleries to the U.S. wild land firefighting history.
