Some say that the peak of the American history reached its peak one year before NASA was able to put their man on the moon – this was when the United States acquired the original London Bridge situated in Arizona.

An American oilman and also a chainsaw manufacturer Robert P. McCulloch paid $2.5 million for the bridge and another $7.5 million to transfer and reassemble its parts. Later on, he declared the bridge as an antique to avoid paying taxes.

The London Bridge is about 950 feet long and weighs approximately 33,000 tons. London Bridge becomes very useful for the people of Lake Havasu because it has turned the city into an island by rebuilding it on a dry land. It serves as a passageway above a mile-long river. Today, London Bridge is the quickest route from Burger King to Javelina Cantina.

On January 2009, the city government pleaded a $250,000 repair for the bridge to the US federal government.
